# Troubleshooting

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Voice Control / Microphone Problems</mark>&#x20;

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Privacy Settings

Go to Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and toggle Microphone Access off, then on.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Ensure your microphone is not muted

Ensure your mic is not accidentally muted. This happens more often than not.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Anti-virus (Windows Defender)

Go to Windows Defender > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage Settings and add an exclusion for FS2Crew Generation AI.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Anti-virus (Other)

Add FS2Crew Generation AI to your anti-malware allow list. Consult your software’s documentation for steps.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Wired Headsets

Front panel ports can fail — try a rear motherboard port instead.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Wireless Headsets

Use a USB headset on a rear motherboard port. Avoid Bluetooth — if unavoidable, disable Bluetooth Power Saving in Windows. If using a USB hub, ensure Windows power settings aren’t putting it to sleep.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Pro tip - Use a Virtual Audio Cable&#x20;

If anti-malware is blocking microphone access, route audio through a virtual cable such as VB-Cable (free).\
\
[Download VB-Cable](https://vb-audio.com/Cable/)\
\
Once configured, link your microphone to the virtual cable and set it as the input in FS2Crew Audio Settings.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Voice Recognition Issues

* Always press and hold the push-to-talk key before you begin speaking, and release it only after you finish. Many users accidentally cut off their speech by pressing the PTT button too quickly.
* Speak clearly and deliberately, enunciating each word. Use a tone and clarity similar to a television newscaster. Avoid slurring words together to ensure every word is easily understood.
* Keep your microphone away from your speakers. Otherwise, the speech recognition system may detect and respond to audio coming from your speakers.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Response Time Issues (Using Cellular Data)

Generation AI does not require a particularly fast Internet connection, but it does require a **stable, low-latency connection** to our cloud services.

If you are using a cellular connection, such as 4G or 5G, performance may vary significantly depending on network conditions. Cellular connections can experience higher latency, jitter, and packet loss than typical home broadband connections, particularly when using a mobile connection while traveling and switching between cell towers.

Please note that a connection showing **4G/5G** or delivering high download speeds does not necessarily indicate suitability for real-time AI communication. Generation AI is more sensitive to **connection stability and latency** than to raw download speed.

If Generation AI is responding slowly, try connecting your computer to a different Internet connection, such as a home Wi-Fi network, to determine whether the issue is related to your cellular connection.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Descent / Approach actions are not triggering

Descent, approach, and landing actions are triggered only when FS2Crew is in **Descent Mode**.

<figure><img src="/files/JTaeplS99ocB7WtjN48y" alt="" width="361"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To enter Descent Mode, play the Approach Brief or manually force FS2Crew into Descent Mode using the button located at the bottom of the panel.

<figure><img src="/files/k4EMxJOUwIxARuTIUxeH" alt="" width="279"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/pCiUCKfhErOnD44usSV4" alt="" width="286"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/oVfVFx9TpYBTcrl0QFhm" alt="" width="371"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The host aircraft is exhibiting unusual behavior.

Perform a clean reinstallation of the host aircraft.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### How to refresh SimBrief Data

Press the blue refresh button. Ensure your SimBrief flight plan is active first.

<figure><img src="/files/roplRaXFanTFGHtJUAff" alt="" width="290"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Voice control checklist/command not triggering

**Active Mode** must match the intended checklist or command.

For example, requesting the Cockpit Preparation Checklist requires Active Mode to be set accordingly.

<figure><img src="/files/fk3ahwuFyNCdo3DuqVrG" alt="" width="252"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Another example: If you command "GEAR UP", the Active Mode must be CLIMB.

If you initiate a voice checklist while the Active Mode is mismatched, a warning beep will sound, and a pop-up will appear. Your next step is to call for the checklist again. Be sure to speak clearly to minimize voice recognition errors.

<figure><img src="/files/EhhyicwnNCQ1AznGn1c8" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**DEVELOPER NOTE:**\
\
FS2Crew requires the Active Mode to match the intended checklist or command to prevent false voice recognition from disrupting your flight. For example, if you call for the Takeoff Checklist but the system mistakenly recognizes it as the Landing Checklist, matching the Active Mode helps avoid such errors.\
\
The Active Mode advances automatically as your flight progresses, so manual selection is rarely necessary.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The FO is not moving flaps, gear, levers, or switches

Your external hardware may be overriding FS2Crew's control inputs.

For example, hardware levers bound to flaps may broadcast a continuous signal that interferes with FS2Crew.

For PMDG products, the required SDK entry may be missing. See our Discord FAQs section for help.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### I accidentally minimized the panel and can't get it back

1. Try pressing the FS2Crew Gen AI icon in the Windows taskbar.
2. Right-click the Generation AI taskbar icon and select Restore (if available).
3. Press **ALT-TAB** repeatedly to select it, then release ALT.
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The FO is repeating the checklist item

The FO repeats the checklist item when the associated switch, button, or lever is not set correctly. For example, if ADIRS is not set to NAV but you respond "NAV" during the checklist, the FO will continue to prompt you for ADIRS until it is configured properly.\
\
You can disable this error checking by selecting this option in the First Officer settings:

<p align="center"><img src="/files/QMlITajlUcfDi8SoaTWh" alt=""></p>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Cannot enter text in the Comms Center chat box

This issue occurs when another FS2Crew panel is open—most likely the Approach or Departure Brief panel. Please close those panels before using the chat box.

<figure><img src="/files/Ra1zqhkQj3BKy4fNLBjm" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Events fail to trigger during the 2nd flight leg

Make sure to complete the parking checklist, as it resets essential functions required for the next leg to work properly.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The FS2Crew panel disappears unexpectedly

Remove any joystick assignments linked to the Toggle FS2Crew panel function, as your joystick may be unintentionally triggering button presses.

<figure><img src="/files/sralcJRYI4siOLH4JYDr" alt="" width="358"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The FO's parking flow is not triggering when the parking brake is set

Use the Manual Flow Selector to run the parking flow manually. To make it easier to trigger the FO's parking flow, you can remove the ATC parking spot detection requirement in the options menu.

<figure><img src="/files/kwaJMgneUhxz3sAyVIYB" alt="" width="337"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The FA Cabin PA is not audible

If you selected a custom cabin PA sound file, ensure it has not been deleted. Verify the file path in the Cabin PA options menu.

<figure><img src="/files/AGnhU55TNWn30aaqzDN1" alt="" width="343"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### FS2Crew is experiencing general malfunctions or issues.

Completely shut down MSFS and restart it before beginning your flight. Starting with a fresh session can help prevent problems. Frequently loading or reloading the aircraft or FS2Crew may lead to additional issues.

Make sure your computer has the latest Windows updates, drivers, and firmware installed. An unstable computer or problematic Windows installation can cause issues that are challenging for FS2Crew Support to diagnose.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Beyond ATC / SayIntentions.AI integration

FS2Crew does not automatically select the ATC frequency for you. For example, if you request the FO to obtain taxi clearance, ensure you are tuned to the correct ATC frequency first.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### GSX integration

For GSX users, uncheck **Assistance Services Auto Mode** in GSX Options.

Also, ensure **CTRL+SHIFT+F12** is set for the **GSX Menu Hotkey**. FS2Crew uses that expected key assignment to close the GSX menu.

<figure><img src="/files/9L3NhD8wSVaCAn4fISC1" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

To prevent conflicts with the default ATC system and GSX key commands, it is recommended to delete the default MSFS keybindings for **ATC PANEL CHOICE 0** to **9** in the **MSFS SETTINGS -> CONTROLS** menu. Ensure these bindings remain unassigned.

<figure><img src="/files/HGaAf6wuj6f8GnGQoDxd" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If a GSX service fails to trigger, trigger it manually via the GSX menu.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### When using GSX, pre-flight events become stuck with approximately 3 minutes remaining.

If you are using GSX, FS2Crew will wait for all GSX services to complete during this period. Please be patient while GSX finishes its operations. If GSX encounters an issue and a service fails to complete, manually abort the problematic GSX service. FS2Crew will continue once all GSX services have finished.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### The microphone (speech recognition) test fails on the audio panel.

Restart the app.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### FS2Crew fails to launch via the MSFS Toolbar

Run the **AI Command Center** as Administrator to resolve permission-related launch failures. It must be running in the background for the Toolbar to work. For more information: [Installation, Startup, and MSFS Toolbar Configuration](/fs2crew-generation-ai-documentation/getting-started/quickstart.md)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Internet connection issues

FS2Crew requires a stable internet connection. Despite using Cloudflare to maintain connectivity, occasional disruptions can occur for reasons beyond our control—usually due to temporary ISP or datacenter issues that resolve on their own. \
\
If issues are encountered, wait for them to resolve on their own, or try connecting via a VPN or your phone’s mobile hotspot.\
\
If you do not have a VPN, try using [Cloudflare One Client](https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-one/team-and-resources/devices/cloudflare-one-client/download/). This lets you connect directly to the Cloudflare network, bypassing local ISP issues.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Virtual machine issues

FS2Crew is not compatible with virtual machines, including Parallels for Mac.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Where are the product-specific manuals?

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Payment "on hold" issues

PayPal may place your payment "on hold" while verifying your transaction. If this occurs, check your email—including your spam folder—for messages from PayPal.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### PayPal issues

Consider using a third-party vendor such as Simmarket or Aerosoft.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add-on pack account issues

If a purchased add-on pack—such as the Voice pack or extra credits—does not appear in the app after a successful purchase, it is likely that your billing email address is different from your official FS2Crew account email address. If you encounter this issue, please submit a support ticket to FS2Crew using the Contact page on the FS2Crew website.
